Youth Leadership Dialogue 2025 to Shape Leaders of the Future

250 students from 27 schools attended, featuring keynote speakers from MAS and Singapore's Chief AI Officer.
250 students from 27 schools participated in the Youth Leadership Dialogue (YLD) 2025 organised by the SJI Student Council on 12 April 2025. YLD is an annual event that brings together student leaders from across institutions to exchange ideas, perspectives and develop skills to navigate today’s complex world, and reflect on the values that underpin effective leadership. This year’s theme, ‘Leading the Future: Empowering the Next Generation of Changemakers’ emphasises the growing need for leaders to be adaptable to their surroundings, resilient to incoming changes and proactive in seizing opportunities, all whilst maintaining the human touch.
YLD featured keynote addresses by distinguished guests Ms Gillian Tan, Chief Sustainability Officer and Assistant Managing Director (Development and International), Monetary Authority of Singapore and Dr He Ruimin, Singapore’s Chief Artificial Intelligence (AI) Officer, Deputy Chief Digital Technology Officer and a member of the United Nations High Level Advisory Body on AI.
The speakers shared about how resourcefulness and adaptability are essential for successful and critical leadership and how we can individually and collectively thrive and not be paralysed in the new operating context of an uncertain world. Following their address, the participants engaged the speakers in a lively discussion on a range of topics. It was indeed heartening to see the students asking well-considered questions and thinking critically about issues and their role in building a better Singapore.
