Year 6 Formal Day 2026

On 5 August, our Year 6 students marked a special milestone with Formal Day, arriving at school dressed in professional working attire.
This annual SJI tradition is part of the school’s ECG Team’s Professional Grooming & Etiquette Programme, which has been integrated into the University and Scholarship Guidance curriculum since 2019 to prepare students for university, scholarship and other formal interviews.
In the lead-up to Formal Day, students participated in two level assembly sessions — an Acing the Interview workshop on 11 July, followed by a Professional Presentation & Etiquette session conducted by TG tutors on 17 July. Through these sessions, they gained practical insights into presenting themselves professionally, communicating with confidence and conducting themselves appropriately in formal settings.
More than simply dressing the part, Formal Day is about preparing our Year 6 Josephians to step confidently into the opportunities that await them beyond SJI — carrying themselves with confidence, poise and purpose.
