Year 1 Josephians on a Geography Field Investigation

To provide an authentic Geography learning experience for the Year 1s, students embarked on a field investigation to various nature reserves in Singapore.

Our students were filled with excitement and wonderment as they stepped foot into the tropical rainforests, and seeing the geography classroom come alive! Students put into practice what was learnt in class to make sense of the world in the rainforest environment.

They also had the opportunity to hone their skills of field observation, field sketching and data collection. Doing this as a group makes the learning experience even more enriching, as students take on different roles and collaborate, share observations, and collectively unravel the spatial patterns which exist in the tropical rainforests.

Max Lim (ML102) shared, “While carrying out the geographical investigation on site, my group mates and I enjoyed trekking through the nature reserve and recording our observations. We also learnt about teamwork and how to communicate better with one another, and we bonded over good data collection. I hope there will be more field trips like this soon.”
