Welcoming the Year 5 Cohort

SJI welcomed our Y5 cohort on 5 February. This year’s Year 5 Orientation Programme was themed: “Uncovering History, Discovering Legacies” with the 20 orientation groups named after voyager ships.

Student leaders and teachers were excited to introduce our new Year 5 cohort to the Josephian culture, ethos and to induct them into the Josephian community. The goal is to allow the Y5 cohort to understand the Lasallian Heritage and appreciate the true essence of being a Josephian.

Across the 4 days of the Orientation programme, the Y5 students were engaged in exciting activities such as the Josephian Challenge, Fort Canning Station and Mass Games, Heritage Trail in the Civic District, and culminating with the Campfire. Every day was filled with meaningful activities and heritage plays about the school's history and more in depth interactions about key school role models.

These activities were carefully designed to be fun, interactive and relevant so that the Year 5 cohort got the opportunity to explore the school and get acquainted with their new surroundings, create shared memories, forge meaningful friendships with their peers, ignite a deep sense of belonging to the school and to care for one another.

The Orientation Programme for the Year 5s, which was led entirely by the Year 6 cohort, was a brilliant example of how Josephians rise to the occasion to be Men and Women for Others.
