Team Hive 5 Creates Designs for Happier Ageing in Singapore

Team Hive 5 designed a community centre to help older residents in Toa Payoh live well. Read how their idea reached the media.
The SJI team who won the Certificate of Distinction in the National Design Project in 2023 was invited to participate in a five-day internship at Temasek Polytechnic.
This innovative and passionate group of students consisting of Joshua Chew (LE303), Adrien Lim (ML301), Elliot D'Cruz (ML301), Gabriel Ho (ML301) and Jayden Ong (MN303) started the seed idea for Project Hive 5 when they were in the Innomakers Programme last year.
The Hive 5's strong social stand towards empowering the elderly population in Toa Payoh with independence and enriching their daily lives with social interaction in a specially designed community centre impressed the Design Council Singapore.
Team Hive 5 was invited to present their design at the media launch of the Design Education Advisory Committee's report 2.0 on 13 June 2024. The students were also interviewed by the media (CNA, Ch 8 and 联合早报).
