SJI Vocal Ensemble - A Tempest-Forged Crew

The SYF journey for the SJI Vocal Ensemble was no leisurely sail - it was, in fact, a tumultuous voyage through wild and unforgiving waters. Each rehearsal was a tide that rose higher, and each timetable a current that pulled ever harder at the seams of our clock. Between the crashing waves of tight academic deadlines and weighty assessments that constantly threatened to anchor our journey prematurely, our crew found growing courage and resolve to press on.

And just when the deck seemed steady came the late arrival of our Year 3 scholars - new sailors thrown into the swell, tasked not only with catching the rhythm but with learning the ropes mid-storm. Yet no one drifted. They listened. They learned. They rowed hard - and they rose, triumphant.

What emerged at the journey's end was not just harmony in sound, but unity in spirit. This was no ordinary ensemble - it was a tempest-forged crew: battle-tested, tightly bound, and golden not just in award, but in will. This trial-tested crew understands that true victory lies not in avoiding the storm, but in sailing through it together - knowing that we never walk, or in this instance, sail alone.
