SJI Thanksgiving Assembly 2026
23 October 2026
On Friday, 23 October 2026, the SJI community came together for our annual Thanksgiving Assembly, a meaningful occasion to reflect on a year of learning, growth, achievements and cherished memories, and to give thanks for the many blessings that have enriched our journey together.

The morning began with a time of fellowship in classrooms, where Josephians shared breakfast and enjoyed precious moments with their classmates. In a simple yet heartfelt expression of gratitude, students folded origami hearts and penned thoughtful notes of appreciation to their friends, celebrating the friendships and bonds that make school life so special. They also worked together to clean and tidy their classrooms, bringing the academic year to a close with a shared spirit of responsibility and care for their school community.
The school then gathered in the Indoor Sports Hall for the final school Mass of the year, offering prayers of thanksgiving for God's guidance and blessings throughout 2026. A particularly poignant moment was the ceremonial handing over and folding of the school flag, symbolising the close of another memorable chapter in our Josephian journey.
In his Thanksgiving Address, Principal Mr Justin Arul Pierre reflected on the milestones, achievements and defining moments of the year, expressing heartfelt appreciation to students, staff and the wider Josephian community for their contributions.
He reminded Josephians that what makes SJI truly special is not simply the accolades we earn or the achievements we celebrate, but the people who make up our community, the friendships we forge and the values we live by.
Looking ahead, he also shared exciting plans for 2027, including enhancements to the school's facilities, as SJI prepares to celebrate its historic 175th anniversary.
The assembly was also an occasion to celebrate Josephian excellence and service. Students who had distinguished themselves through their contributions, leadership and sporting achievements were recognised through the presentation of the Lasallian Distinguished Service Awards and various sporting honours, including the Sportsman of the Year Award. Beyond the accolades, these recognitions celebrated the qualities of perseverance, dedication, humility and service that lie at the heart of a Josephian education.
In one of the morning's most heartfelt moments, the school community bade a fond farewell to staff members who would be retiring or moving on from SJI. Their dedication, commitment and contributions to the lives of generations of Josephians were acknowledged with deep gratitude, reminding us that the lasting impact of an educator extends far beyond the classroom.
As the 2026 school year drew to a close, our Thanksgiving Assembly reminded us that the true measure of a meaningful school year lies not only in what we have accomplished, but also in how we have grown, the friendships we have nurtured and the difference we have made in one another's lives.
We end the year with grateful hearts, thankful for the journey we have shared, the challenges we have overcome and the many moments that have brought us closer as one Josephian family.
As we look towards SJI's 175th anniversary in 2027, we do so with renewed hope and a shared commitment to carry forward the enduring Lasallian spirit of Faith, Service and Community, inspiring every Josephian to continue learning, growing and becoming a person of integrity and for others.
