SJI Students Shine in STEM Scholarships and Research

Seven SJI students who are passionate about Science and Technology were recently awarded prestigious STEM scholarships and completed their external research attachments. A*STAR Science Award (Junior College) Four Year 6 students received the 2-year top Science Award for JC students, which included a five-week research attachment at an A*STAR institute:

• Ciaran Condron (ML613)

• Daniel Ho (MN619)

• Quah Xiao Heng (FN605)

NUS Science Research Programme (SRP) Five Year 6 students successfully completed the 13-month SRP, undertaking advanced projects in autonomous driving and medical research: Two Josephians, Dishnu Premanandan (FN601) and Brayden Chang (ML614) worked in the NUS Advanced Robotics Centre where they studied autonomous driving, namely deep supervised learning applications for self-driving vehicle fast lane following.

A team of three Josephians comprising Gabriel Ng (FN602), Daniel Ho (MN619) and Quah Xiao Heng (FN605) completed their research project in the NUS Department of Pharmacy where they studied a medical condition known as Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, in particular Single cell RNA sequencing data from peripheral blood mononuclear cells from patients with and without this condition.

International Science School (ISS), University of Sydney SJI proudly represented Singapore for the second time at ISS 2025. Erica Seah (LE509) was among five JC students chosen nationwide and was awarded the Len Basser Award for Scientific Leadership, one of only three global awards at the programme.
