SJI Sailors Shine at 2025 National School Games

Sailors competed over four days, with Lim Yuk Jun taking 1st in C-Division ILCA 4 and others placing across categories.
SJI’s Sailors charted an outstanding course across four exciting days of competition at the 2025 National School Games Sailing Championships. Battling gusty winds and tactical races across ILCA classes, our sailors showed true grit, skill and teamwork. This year also marked a historic milestone, with SJI fielding an A-Division team for the first time.
C-Division ILCA 4 – Lim Yuk Jun (MN202) sailed a dominant series, winning four out of seven races with sharp racecraft and tactical mastery. He did the school proud by clinching overall 1st place.
In his debut appearance, Julien Petracco (LE103) impressed with tactical brilliance and cool-headed sailing, clinching 3rd place for the Optimist class after a thrilling final race. A rising star for SJI!
B-Division ILCA 4 – In challenging light winds, Nigel Tan (ML303) stayed composed and consistent, finishing 4th overall. His smart tactical sailing played a key role in boosting the team’s overall standing.
A-Division ILCA 6 – Skipper Kenan Tan (FN603) showed class and composure, trading gybes and tacks with his closest rival throughout the regatta. The duel reached its dramatic climax as both sailors finished with 9 points apiece. But in a heartbreaking twist, Kenan was edged out on countback, thus settling for a valiant 2nd place finish.
