SJI Makes History with Back-to-Back NSG C-Division Football Championship Titles

We are the Champions! The roar of the crowd at the Singapore Sports Hub during the NSG C-Division Football Finals will be remembered for years to come. On a tense and electrifying afternoon, SJI’s C Division Football team did the school proud and etched their names into history, claiming a 1–0 victory over Montfort Secondary School and securing back-to-back NSG titles, the first time in SJI’s history this feat has been achieved.

From the opening whistle, both teams displayed unwavering determination. The match was a showcase of skill, tactical discipline, and relentless pursuit of victory. The SJI footballers controlled and dictated the tempo throughout the match but they could not find a breakthrough against a resolute Montfort team who defended valiantly. The match ended 0-0 after normal time before 10 minutes of extra time commenced.

The breakthrough came in the last minute of extra time, when Gabriel Ng from LE102 latched onto a precise pass and struck the ball cleanly into the net after a pinpoint cross from Hugo Joanny of LE202. The stadium erupted with joy, it was the pinnacle moment of a match defined by persistence and belief.

Beyond the goal and the win, the match was a testament to the resilience and character of Josephians. They had promised themselves they would not disappoint the school, and they fought until the very end to fulfil that promise. Spurred on by a jubilant SJI support consisting of 1500 Josephian students, as well as staff, parents and Old Boys, our footballers did not disappoint.
