SJI Debate: 2nd Place Diliman AP Debate 2026

At a Philippines-hosted tournament drawing over 50 teams, the SJI Green Owls placed 2nd in the High School Category after losing the final on a split decision.

The SJI Green Owls and SJI White Owls took on both University level and other High School teams over the weekend in a 2-day debate tournament. Hosted by the Philippines University, it attracted more than 50 teams across many institutions and countries like Pakistan, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia and Singapore.

The SJI Green Owls placed 2nd in the High School Category, after a very rigorous final round which they lost in a split decision. The team consisted of Bonifacio Dillan Vittorio Gyula (ML512), Annabel Yap Wei Si (FN505) and Koh Yu-En Charlotte (LE501).

The SJI White Owls were the 3rd team to break and kept as a reserve team for the final as there was no 3rd placing round. This team consisted of Jedidiah Eo Shuo (MN619), Patrick Nott Pei De (MN616) and Kwek Ngan Kat Xavier (ML614).

We also had Josephians Ignatius Liong Yao Koon (LE608) and Tan Ka Jun Gavriel (ML513) who got to train alongside other experienced adjudicators and learn from them.
