SJI Celebrates Mutien Festival 2024: A Night of Drama and Music

On 2 August, the SJI community gathered for an unforgettable evening of drama and music, presented by the five Performing Arts groups at SJI. This year's Mutien Festival embraced the theme 'Believe,' reflecting the performers' journey to conquer challenges, embrace their talents, and shine on stage.

Each performer took to heart the power of believing—in themselves, in their abilities, and in their capacity to captivate a large audience. Junior members showcased their skills with confidence, demonstrating the growth and dedication of months of practice. The evening kicked off with a diverse array of performances. The Pipe Band mesmerized with their renditions of beloved classics, followed by the Drama Club's touching portrayal of a coming-of-age story. The Vocal Ensemble then delivered a spectacular performance, filling the first half of the festival with heartwarming moments.

In the second half, the SJI Symphonic Band and the Guitar Ensemble delighted the audience with familiar tunes, from iconic soundtracks to trending hits. The festival culminated in a powerful combined performance of "When You Believe" by the SJI Symphonic Band and Vocal Ensemble, echoing the theme of faith and self-belief, inspired by the song from the animation Prince of Egypt.

Mutien Festival 2024 was a night to remember for both the audience and performers. As we look forward to future Mutien Festivals, we remain inspired by the spirit of belief that made this event truly special.
