SJI Celebrates Literary Week Festival

Our Literary Week Festival celebrated 'Connections', from the Tree of Wisdom to student poetry.
The SJI Literary Week Festival, organised by the FPAM EL department, was a vibrant celebration themed "Connections," highlighting the deep connection within our Josephian community through an array of engaging literary activities.
The festival's centerpiece was the mesmerising "Tree of Wisdom", a sculpture by Br Joseph McNally, adorned with the book covers of favourite reads from both teachers and students. This installation was inaugurated by our Principal, Mr Justin Arul Pierre, creating a stunning visual representation of our community’s literary passions. Adding to the celebration, students presented original poems, bringing their unique voices to the occasion.
One of the standout components of the event was "Whispers of Wisdom", where inspirational quotes were collected and shared with the entire school through an email blast, fostering a spirit of motivation and reflection. Complementing this, the Parent Support Group (PSG) supported a bookmark activity in the library that encouraged students to personalise and share their favourite quotes, further enhancing the literary spirit. The library space was decorated in celebration with a special book display reflecting the festival’s theme.
Year 1 and 2 students demonstrated their enthusiasm and knowledge in a lively literary quiz, while Year 2 students also gained valuable insights from a talk on persuasive writing by Mrs Cherie Tseng (SJI parent and CEO at a local fintech company, and a commentator for CNA). The grand finale of the festival was the "Connections Conclave," a series of captivating performances by both students and teachers.
