SJI at the Singapore Science and Engineering Fair

The Singapore Science and Engineering Fair is a national competition organised by the Ministry of Education, A*STAR agency, and Science Centre Singapore.

SJI was represented by the largest team ever, with 13 students shortlisted for the Final Judging Round of the Singapore Science and Engineering Fair (SSEF). They represent 2 individual projects and 8 team projects that were conducted in various A*STAR research institutes, at NUS, NTU, DSTA, DSO National Laboratories, and in Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory.

The duration of projects presented at SSEF ranged from 5 weeks to 13 months, and conducted under various research attachment programmes. Some of the fields studied include Neurobiology, Nanomaterials, Cognitive Systems, Machine Learning, Mechanical Engineering and Water Resources Management.

Two SSEF Merit Awards were presented to 2 Josephians who served as Team Project Leaders with students from other JCs: Brayden Chang (ML614) for his project conducted at the ASTAR Institute for Infocomm Research during his 5-weeks Research Attachment Programme under ASTAR Science Award (Junior College).

Audrey Chuah (MN619) for her project conducted at the A*STAR Institute of High Performance Computing during her 5-weeks research attachment under MOE Local Students Attachment Programmes. Audrey was also awarded the SSEF Special Award - The James Dyson Foundation Design Engineering Award, that includes James Dyson autobiography and a monetary award.

The following students received Certificates of Participation in the Final Judging Round: Anshita Palavali (FN602), Ciaran Condron (ML613), Dishnu Premanandan (FN601), Evan Chan (ML611), Joshua Chew (ML611), Stephen Reno (LE610), Guhan Venu (LE607), and Aarav Malik (LE608) who also received a STEM for Good Contest Certificate

And Alson Mook (ML515), and our Josephians from Year 4: Dang Anh Tuan (FN402) and Doan Vu Khoa (ML403).
