SJI Alumni Soar in their Own Arena

Our alumni won a national fashion design prize, captained Singapore's Under-23 football team and more.
Congratulations to our alumni who have progressed in their own ways since graduating from SJI:
Local designer Jon Max Goh (Class of 2006) has been named winner of this year's Singapore Stories, the Textile and Fashion Federation's annual fashion design competition. This year's theme, Fashion And Technology: A New Era, encouraged designers to express their creativity while leveraging innovation and technology. The only male finalist, Jon won with a six-piece menswear capsule, titled 'State Of Becoming', which melded technology and the Singapore identity through the use of soft textures and fluid fabrics. The 31-year-old, who founded his namesake label this year, graduated in 2015 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in fashion design from Parsons The New School for Design in New York as its Menswear Designer of the Year. Jacob Mahler (Class of 2016) will be captaining Singapore's Under-23 Football team in the upcoming AFC U-23 Asian Cup Qualifiers. Jacob's rise in the local professional football scene has been a remarkable one, captaining the Young Lions team this season after his breakthrough season in 2019 (https://www.fas.org.sg/singapore-squad-afc-u23-asian-cup-qualifiers (opens in new tab)). Jacob was part of the historic SJI Football team which reached the National Football Finals in 2015 and he was awarded the Sportsboy of the Year in 2016.
Tseng Kuo Chuan (Class of 2016) has been conferred the Army NSF (serviceman) of the Year Award 2021.
