The SJI 175 Learning Festival brought together 300 educators from 54 local and international schools, with participants joining us both on campus and online from overseas to exchange ideas, share practices, and strengthen professional collaboration. This sixth edition of the Learning Festival is also held in conjunction with our school’s upcoming milestone of 175 years of rich and distinguished heritage in Singapore next year.

In his opening address, Principal Mr Justin Arul Pierre reflected on this year’s festival theme, “Celebrating Teachers as Architects of Learning in an AI-transformed World”. He reminded participants that even in a rapidly changing educational landscape, it is teachers who remain the true architects of learning. Drawing on our school’s Lasallian heritage, he concluded with the words of our founder St. John Baptist de La Salle: "You can perform miracles by touching the hearts of those entrusted to your care."

The festival's keynote speaker, Professor Lim Sun Sun, Vice President (Partnerships & Engagement) and Lee Kong Chian Professor of Communication and Technology at Singapore Management University, delivered an inspiring address titled Education in the AI Age: Architecting our Classrooms for Augmentation, Not Atrophy. Through thought-provoking insights and practical examples, Professor Lim encouraged educators to reflect on how emerging technologies can enrich learning while preserving the distinctly human qualities at the heart of education. During the audience engagement segment, Professor Lim responded thoughtfully to participants' questions, prompting meaningful dialogue and reflection. 

The festival also featured 22 concurrent sessions led by educators from SJI and various schools across Singapore. Participants engaged actively in professional conversations, exchanged classroom practices, and strengthened connections across schools.

We are grateful to all our speakers, presenters and participants across various institutions and schools for their contributions towards an afternoon of meaningful professional exchange on a theme close to the hearts of educators, and for ultimately making the festival a resounding success. As SJI embarks on its 175th anniversary celebrations, the SJI Learning Festival reaffirmed our shared commitment to learning, collaboration, and the Lasallian mission of touching hearts, inspiring minds, and transforming lives.
