Read a Book, Grow a Mind

SJI celebrated World Book Day in the last week of May with a vibrant array of activities centered on fostering a love for reading. Based on the theme "Read a Book, Grow a Mind," the event highlighted the transformative power of books. One of the highlights was the Treasure Book Hunt, where students searched for donated books from school leaders and teachers, turning the hunt into a thrilling literary adventure.

Low Yan Zuo, ML201, commented: "The book hunt was quite interesting though I didn't get any. And it was great that there were books to be given away to encourage reading" The day also featured a Literary Quiz designed for all students, testing their knowledge of classic and contemporary books. Elliott Kong, ML402, also commented, "They incentivised reading with free books and quizzes."

This year’s event reinforced SJI’s commitment to reading literacy, aligning with World Book Day’s global mission to make reading accessible and joyful. By integrating interactive activities like the book hunt and quiz, SJI ensured students left inspired to cherish books beyond the celebration. – The Library Committee
