Lasallian Encounter 2026

Lasallian Encounter 2026 offered Josephians a meaningful and faith-filled retreat centred on the Lasallian values of faith, service and community. Held in Ipoh, Malaysia, the retreat was an immersive Lasallian experience beyond the classroom, inviting students to encounter God more deeply while reflecting on their purpose, vocation and calling in life. The programme also allowed Josephians to meet students from other Lasallian schools in the region and make new friendships.

Through various activities, participants explored the life and legacy of St John Baptist de La Salle and were led to deepen their understanding of our Lasallian heritage. Through collaboration with like-minded Lasallians from Malaysia, participants were reminded that they are part of the global Lasallian mission of engaging with the peripheries, and the active role we all are called to play in our homes, schools, and wider communities.

A key highlight of the encounter was the service-learning visit to an Orang Asli village, where students engaged with the local children, interacted with community elders and gained a deeper understanding of the realities faced by indigenous communities. The experience encouraged meaningful reflection on solidarity, gratitude and the call to serve others with empathy and respect.

Led by a team of Lasallian Brothers based in Singapore and Malaysia, the programme balanced spiritual formation with fellowship and recreation. Through activities such as badminton, soccer and ultimate frisbee, students forged new friendships, built community and learnt more about the Brothers’ vocational journeys and commitment to the Lasallian mission.

Lasallian Encounter 2026 was ultimately a transformative experience that strengthened faith, nurtured friendships, deepened understanding of the Lasallian mission, and encouraged Josephians to continue discerning how God is calling them to live lives of service, leadership and purpose.
