Josephians Showcase Cutting-Edge Research at 37th NUS Science Research Congress

Five students presented projects covering deep learning for self-driving cars and RNA sequencing in lupus patients.
Five Year 6 Josephians participated in the 37th NUS Science Research Congress (SRC). The Congress was a culminating event of their 13-months journey in the Science Research Programme (SRP), a premier research attachment programme established in 1988 by NUS Faculty of Science in collaboration with Gifted Education Branch of MOE.
During SRC, students presented their SRP projects in front of an online audience of several hundred students and teachers from other JCs and researchers and Professors from NUS.
Our Josephians conducted their research projects over a period of 6 months in the NUS Advanced Robotics Centre [(Brayden Chang (ML614) and Dishnu Premanandan (FN601)] where they studied deep supervised learning applications for self-driving vehicle fast lane following, and in the NUS Department of Pharmacy [(Gabriel Ng (FN602), Daniel Ho (MN619), and Quah Xiao Heng (FN605)] analyzing single cell RNA sequencing data from peripheral blood mononuclear cells from patients with and without systemic lupus erythematosus.
