Josephians Shine at East Zone A*STAR Science Fair

Two SJI teams won Merit and Silver awards for research on global warming at the East Zone A*STAR Science Fair. Read about their projects.
Two SJI teams participated in the East Zone A*STAR Science Fair organised by the East Zone Centre of Excellence for Science & Technology at Victoria Junior College. Both teams signed up for this Science Fair voluntarily and with enthusiasm. Their projects were relevant to addressing the effects of Global Warming. The teams are:
Team 1 – Aarush Nair (FN303), Aidan Maclaren (FN303), Nguyen Phuc Chuong (FN303), Owenn Phua (ML303) achieved the Merit Award.
Their research is on Animal lipid mixtures as phase-change thermal energy storage materials for passive cooling of office buildings in Singapore.
They were mentored by Mr Tan Yan Li and SJI alumnus Dr Png Zhuang Mao (Class of 2005) from the Institute of Materials Research and Engineering, A*STAR.
Team 2 – Nguyen Thien Minh Tuan and Nguyen Duc Minh Anh (FN303) are currently in the Nanyang Research Programme (Junior Researcher), where they are working on a project with their mentor Dr Kenneth Lim on the Effects of Microclimate on Human's emotions and health. They won a Silver Award for their project.
