Josephians Finish Strong at Tennis at the NSG 2025

Gareth Kong clinched the deciding point as SJI beat defending champions ACS(I) 3-2 to win the NSG C-Division Tennis title for the first time since 1989.
What a day to remember for SJI tennis!
On 1 Sep, Gareth Kong of FN 201 clinched the winning point in our 3-2 victory over defending champions Anglo-Chinese School (Independent), and the whole team simply couldn’t hold back their joy. The moment the final ball was struck, everyone dashed onto the show courts at the Kallang Tennis Hub, cheering, hugging, and celebrating together. It was a scene of pure SJI spirit.
This wasn’t just any win, it ended a 36-year wait for the National C-Division Tennis title, the last time being way back in 1989. The whole team played their hearts out, taking down their opponents with fearless groundstrokes, quick poaches at the net, and sharp volleys that wowed the crowd for a marathon that lasted 4 hours.
From early morning trainings to nail-biting finishes, every ounce of effort paid off for our C- Division Tennis boys as they wrapped up a truly memorable and momentous National School Games season, one that saw them bring the championship title back home after a long drought.
2025 has been an abundant year of blessings for SJI as we have clinched both the B and C- Division Championship titles this year. This season was nothing short of incredible. But what defined it most wasn’t just the wins or the trophy, but it was the quiet strength, shared belief, and the way our boys played with heart and grit for each other every step of the way.
