Josephians Distinguish Themselves in the Science Research Programme

Five Josephians completed a 13-month research attachment with the NUS Faculty of Science. Read about their projects.
Science Research Programme (SRP) is a premier research attachment programme established in 1988 by NUS Faculty of Science in collaboration with the Gifted Education Branch of MOE. The objective of this Programme is to give selected JC1 students who have demonstrated interest and aptitude for scientific research, the opportunity to be in a Science mentorship and to undertake research projects in a scientific and technological community, while acquiring critical inquiry and research competencies.
In April 2023, five Year 5 Josephians started their long 13-months journey in SRP. As part of SRP, they completed the 2-weeks Research Methods Module conducted by NUS Professors and researchers, spent several week during June and December vacations working on their research projects, written and submitted their Science paper to the Dean of NUS Faculty of Science, and showcased their results during NUS Science Research Congress.
In May 2024, all five students have successfully completed all the requirements of the Science Research Programme.
Matthew Oon (ML613) as a team leader (2nd from left) and Tristan Lee (FN601) (3rd from left) were working in the NUS Department of Mechanical Engineering on the project to investigate Additive Manufacturing of Alternative Protein Source for Dysphagia Diet. They were invited as VIP presenters to discuss their results at the 36th Science Research Congress in NUS at the end of Term 2.
