SJI warmly congratulates Caleb Lim (LE607) and Patrick Nott Pei De (MN616), who were honoured with the prestigious SAF Young Leader Award on 4 August 2026.
Established to recognise students who demonstrate outstanding leadership, strong critical-thinking abilities and a deep commitment to the defence of Singapore, the SAF Young Leader Award is one of the SAF's most distinguished accolades for pre-university students. This year, 331 applicants from institutions across Singapore underwent a rigorous selection process, with only 25 exceptional students ultimately receiving the award.
Each recipient receives a cash prize of $2,500 and a certificate in recognition of their achievements. They will also have the opportunity to participate in exclusive engagement programmes organised by MINDEF and the SAF, as well as apply for scholarship interviews that may open doors to further studies both locally and overseas.
The award ceremony was made even more meaningful by the presence of Military Expert 4 Ryan Sim, an SJI alumnus from the Class of 2021, who presented the awards. Ryan's own journey has been marked by remarkable achievements, including being awarded the SAF Merit Scholarship in 2023. He is currently pursuing a degree in Computing in Information Security at the National University of Singapore while serving as a project officer with the Joint Intelligence Command in the Digital and Intelligence Service. His heartfelt and inspiring address resonated deeply with his juniors and left a lasting impression on all in attendance.
We are immensely proud of Caleb and Patrick for this outstanding accomplishment. May they continue to lead with courage, integrity and a spirit of service as they strive to make meaningful contributions to Singapore and the wider community.
