Celebrating Excellence in Science and Research

SJI is proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our Josephians, whose passion for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) has earned them national recognition and valuable research opportunities.

A*STAR Science Award (Junior College)

Six Year 5 Josephians have been awarded the prestigious A*STAR Science Award (Junior College), Singapore's premier Science award for Junior College students. The award is conferred for two years and recognises students who have demonstrated exceptional academic ability and a strong aptitude for scientific research.

Recipients are selected based on their excellent performance in the Year 5 End-of-Year Examinations and the successful completion of a five-week research attachment at one of A*STAR's research institutes.

A*STAR Science Award (Upper Secondary)

We also congratulate three Year 4 Josephians who have received the A*STAR Science Award (Upper Secondary). This award recognises promising young scientific talent and provides recipients with opportunities to deepen their interest in Science through the Research Exposure Programme, where they gain first-hand insights into research at A*STAR's institutes.

Research Attachment Programme with A*STAR

Congratulations to Wong Sze Yen Francesca (MN620), who was selected by the Ministry of Education for the Research Attachment Programme with A*STAR. During the December 2025 school vacation, Francesca successfully completed a five-week research attachment at the Genome Institute of Singapore and was awarded a Certificate of Completion. Her achievement reflects both her intellectual curiosity and commitment to scientific inquiry.

Science OlympiadsTwenty-two Year 6 Josephians represented the school in the 37th Singapore Chemistry Olympiad and the 26th Singapore Biology Olympiad, organised by the Ministry of Education. Competing alongside some of Singapore's most capable young scientists, our students demonstrated commendable dedication and perseverance.

We are delighted to congratulate:

• Wong Yau Hang (FN602), who was awarded a Bronze Medal in the Singapore Biology Olympiad.

• Ethan Gerard Thomas (LE610), who received a Certificate of Merit in the Singapore Chemistry Olympiad.

Their achievements reflect not only academic excellence but also the spirit of curiosity, resilience and innovation that we seek to nurture in every Josephian.
