ArtScience IDEA 2025 – Celebrating Innovation in Biodiversity

SJI’s ArtScience IDEA 2025 culminated in a vibrant day of exhibitions and presentations, where our Year 3 students showcased their year-long projects on the theme Biodiversity. Visitors explored imaginative solutions to real-world challenges, from protecting marine life to harnessing technology for conservation.

In his opening address, Prof. Leo Tan Wee Hin reminded us that “the best solutions may be the simplest”, encouraging students to look for elegant, practical answers to complex problems. Later, Karl Png, SJI alumnus and biodiversity advocate, shared how his passion for the natural world was first sparked by his own ArtScience experience at SJI—proof of how this programme inspires life-long impact.

We were honoured to welcome guests from the Ministry of Education and Temasek Polytechnic. Special guests who graced the event included Prof. Khoo Peng Beng, a member of the SJI Board of Governors and a Professor at SUTD, as well as Dr Koh Thiam Seng, a former Principal of SJI and a firm supporter of the ArtScience Programme.

From seed ideas to fully realised proposals, IDEA 2025 showcased the creativity, critical thinking, and passion of our students—proving that when art and science meet, innovation thrives.
