Alumni Step Up to Defend the Nation

Five alumni received defence scholarships from the Minister for Defence. Read about the careers they are heading into.
Five SJI alumni received prestigious scholarships from the Minister for Defence, Dr Ng Eng Hen, at the Defence Scholarship Award Ceremony 2024.
Joshua Goh Sheng Yi (SJI Class of 2017) was awarded the SAF Merit Scholarship which is aimed at preparing him to become a world-class military operator who is equipped with the skills and expertise needed to protect Singapore.
Tay Zhe Qian (SJI Class of 2022) was awarded the Defence Merit Scholarship, a top-tier scholarship offered by the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF). He will play a strategic role in contributing to Singapore's defence and security.
Chong Jin Qi and Nicholas Tan Yi-Jia (from the SJI Class of 2021) were awarded the DSTA Scholarship which will provide them numerous opportunities to advance in science and cutting-edge technology towards strengthening Singapore’s defence capabilities.
