SJI came alive with ideas, creativity and innovation as our Year 3 ArtScience students gathered for ArtScience IDEA 2026

SJI came alive with ideas, creativity and innovation as our Year 3 ArtScience students gathered for ArtScience IDEA 2026, the annual showcase of their work centred on the theme of Biodiversity.

Bringing together students, teachers, parents and external jurors, the showcase featured projects addressing real-world challenges in biodiversity, environmental awareness, resource management and biomimicry. Drawing on their observations and research, our students transformed ideas into creative solutions through experimentation, design and prototyping.

The Top 10 shortlisted teams took to the stage to pitch their ideas and demonstrate their prototypes before a distinguished panel of external jurors. Parents of the finalist teams were also invited to witness their children confidently share the thinking, learning and creativity behind their projects.

We were privileged to have the projects evaluated by a distinguished panel of jurors:

  • Professor Leo Tan Wee Hin, NUS

  • Professor Khoo Peng Beng, SUTD

  • Associate Professor Jeffrey Kwik Teik Beng, SIT

  • Associate Professor Adrian Loo Hock Beng, NUS

  • Mr Sean Khoo, Temasek Polytechnic

At the end of an exciting day of presentations and judging, three teams emerged as the top winners of ArtScience IDEA 2026:

  • 1st Place — Naircon (Nature’s New Air Conditioner) by Akshay Ananthan, Damien Emmanuel Kok Lui Quan, Cheng Jae Ren, Izaak Irwin Tan, Yip Zhi Min Rephael 

  • 2nd Place — AquaPaw (Adaptive Grip Tyres for Rainy Days) by Lloyd Gregory Wong, Lim Ding Yi Ian, Muhammad Fuzail, Naitik Oswal,  Haegen Michael Budianto

  • 3rd Place — Skyrise (Microcosms Of Biodiversity With Bioactive Clay Wall Panels) by Sakthi Muralikrishna, Jacob Sebastian Devan, Yeo Zhi Kang Justin, Armaan A Rawat, Tan Zhi Peng Asher

More than a showcase of completed projects, ArtScience IDEA 2026 celebrated our students’ curiosity, ingenuity and courage to turn ideas into possibilities. By bringing together Art, Science and creative thinking, our Josephians demonstrated how learning can extend beyond the classroom to engage meaningfully with the world around them.
