Direct School Admission (DSA) To Year 1 In 2020

1. The SJI Direct School Admission (DSA) to Year 1 in 2020 is open to applicants (boys only) interested in gaining admission to SJI. Interested applicants should be taking the Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) in 2019.

2. Returning Singaporeans and International Students who are not studying in MOE mainstream schools and not taking the PSLE are to approach the Ministry of Education, Singapore, for advice. Please refer to points 11 and 12.

3. SJI offers the four-year O-Level programme (OP) that leads to the GCE O-Level Examination Certificate and the six-year Integrated Programme (IP) that leads to the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma.

4. Students admitted through DSA-Sec must commit to their chosen school for the duration of the programme. They are not allowed to transfer to another school.

5. Parents and students are encouraged to choose schools wisely based on the student’s aptitudes and strengths, bearing in mind the school’s academic and non-academic requirements, and the programmes available to develop the area of talent.

Lessons are conducted in the afternoon after curriculum hours in Year 3 and 4.

Performing Arts

Music

  • Prior music training – minimum Grade 4 certification in Practical and Theory, or equivalent.

AND

Commitment to a Performing Arts CCA (Music) from Year 1 to Year 4.

The Performing Arts CCAs (Music) in SJI are (choose one):

Private lessons, not funded by the school, on a chosen instrument from Year 1 to Year 4.

Leadership and Uniformed Groups

Leadership

  • Documented evidence on leadership responsibilities within the school and/or outside of school.
  • Examples: school prefectorial board, CCA leadership, leadership positions in community projects or welfare organisations.

Commitment to the programme from Year 1 to Year 6.

Entrepreneurship and Innovation

Innovation

  • Documented evidence on innovative practices within the school and/or outside of school.
  • Examples: photos and write-ups of works of innovation produced by the applicant or certificate of achievement in competitions with an emphasis on innovation.

AND

Commitment to the programme from Year 1 to Year 6.

Application Process

9. From 2019, application for DSA-Sec is to be submitted through the online DSA-Sec Portal. The application is free-of-charge and will be open from 8 May to 4 Jun 2019, 3pm. For more details, please refer to MOE website – www.moe.gov.sg/admissions/direct-admissions/dsa-sec.

10. Please note that the school is not able to accept late submissions.

Applicants Not Studying in MOE mainstream schools

11. Applicants who are currently NOT studying in MOE mainstream schools are required to approach the MOE Customer Service Centre for advice - https://www.moe.gov.sg/contact

12. These include Singaporeans studying overseas, home-schooled students and international students studying in international schools in Singapore.
