Lee Lye Hin
A Head of Department for Mother Tongue who is completing his doctoral degree, Lye Hin is respected by staff and students alike for his calm and patient personality, and his passion for Chinese Antiquities.
"It is very difficult to find two students who are exactly the same, but I believe what is the same is that every student can learn. That's why I strive to give each boy opportunities to learn and grow. I believe that through enough learning experiences, the boys will grow the capacity to think deeply and differentiate right from wrong..."

Marakatham
A History teacher, Mara is as passionate about her subject as she is with the school's focus on service. She helps with the St. Vincent de Paul Society which focuses on service to the community.
"It gives me great joy when my boys grow in confidence and gain mastery over difficult concepts. As a History teacher, I strive for my boys to think independently, have a diversity of perspectives and develop empathy for the people they study from the past and those with whom they come into contact in their daily lives. This emphasis on affective learning is what is integral to SJI; for the boys to have an awareness of the wider community they live in and their role as active and responsible citizens..."

Janet Kwok
An English teacher who runs SJI's aesthetic programmes, Janet is deeply passionate about the arts. From her training in piano, dance and singing, to her 16 years in the highly acclaimed Peter Low Choir and her role as 'Rosie' in the hit local musical 'Beauty World', Janet has brought a lot of that magic of the arts to the SJI boys.
"Teaching has taught me many things about life. Since 1989 when I first stepped into the classroom, I have not stopped learning. Not just in terms of content knowledge and teaching methodologies but about people and relationships. In teaching, I have learnt that if there is no relationship , there is nothing. And relationships last longer than the teaching of knowledge itself..."

Genesius Chan
As Head of Level for the Secondary Two's, Genesius is focused on the growth of his boys as Whole Persons. This Old Boy of SJI who has come back to teach in his alma mater is much loved by the boys for his caring nature and great sense of humour.
"I love life! I like meeting and speaking with people, sharing experiences, learning about life with them; simply immersing in life and people God has allowed me to meet. I am happy to have met my wife in SJI who has been my strength, support and guide, and of course Gereon my young son, who has also taught me many things..."
