Message from the Head of SJI PSG

Dear Parents,

As parents of Josephians, you are all automatically in the SJI Parent Support Group. It is our sincere wish that you journey with us during these four years of your son’s growth in the school.

SJI has a rich tradition of faith, service and community which we would like to impart to your sons as well. In this way, they become part of the growing network of Josephians who have passed through these gates and are now making an impact on society as servant leaders.

As parents, we work in partnership with you to see your sons from Sec 1, where they are still very young, to Sec 4, when they have grown to be young men.

The PSG in SJI was established in 2005 with Dr Paul Tseng (Class of 1975) as Chairperson. His committee of very passionate parents, and good friends, helped create a group dynamic that formed the first PSG in SJI. However, parents of Josephians have also been active in the school long before that in their own ways.

The PSG works together with SJI on several activities. Some of the major activities include the annual Sports Fiesta (jointly organised with SJI Old Boys’ Association), Racial harmony Day, Career Talk Day and Night Study.

We are seeing more parents coming forward to help out in activities and school functions, with the common thread of getting involved in a small part of their son’s life in SJI and networking and sharing amongst the community.

Being in the PSG is an excellent way to keep in touch with SJI. We are exploring new ways to bring parents of Josephians closer to the school such as community activities and both local and overseas service programmes.

Going forward, we are looking at more ways to partner you in the education of your son. So, look out for school activities and other areas where you can work together with the school, and be a part of the process of nurturing our boys to become Men of Integrity and Men for Others.
