SJI is a Catholic school founded on Lasallian core values of faith, service and community. In line with these values, we aim to nurture leaders who will be men of integrity and men for others.
We provide a balanced and holistic education that will help all boys to excel academically, develop their social, spiritual and emotional competencies, and live a moral, healthy and active life that will lead them to discover and develop their talents and interests, to strive for meaning in his life, and, most of all, to care for others.
We offer a challenging academic programme that ensures each boy enrolled at SJI is nurtured and developed according to his talent and interest. The Josephian Talent Programme (JTP) provides enrichment in the key subjects such as English, Mathematics and Science for boys with overall high academic abilities. We also offer an Individualized Enrichment Programme (IEP) that caters to students’ interest in any of the three domains of their choice: Aesthetics, Language and Communication or Physical Recreation. In pursuing their interests, the boys can learn an art form, converse in a foreign language or develop a skill in a sport.
We offer a comprehensive student development programme that complements our academic programme to develop the non-academic domains of our boys. Religious, Moral and Social Education (RMSE) is aimed at developing a moral compass in each boy, in helping each boy to become aware of his personal strengths and weaknesses and to appreciate and understand how to live in the community. Physical education, adventure and outdoor education and co-curricular activities especially uniformed groups and sports seek to strengthen in our boys their mental and physical resilience, develop their ability to work in teams and to help them exercise discipline and leadership.
Special programmes such as the Artscience programme (in collaboration with Professor David Edwards of Harvard University) and Business Design Thinking programme (in collaboration with Rotmann School of Management at University of Toronto and Singapore Polytechnic) complement our educational programmes to equip our boys with the essential skills and dispositions that will prepare them for the future.
A Josephian education will provide a strong academic foundation to prepare our boys for meaningful professional careers and, more importantly, lay the foundation for life-long and holistic learning that will prepare them well to meet challenges in the future.
Although SJI is a Catholic school, we provide an inclusive education that is respectful of the boys’ religious beliefs. We welcome all boys that meet the entry requirements regardless of their religious affiliations.
At SJI, we pride ourselves in ensuring that our boys will have meaningful learning experiences based on a strong value foundation. They will be expected to work hard, to strive always to do their best and to enjoy themselves at the same time. In the process, they develop strong and deep friendships with one another. Thus, they will leave SJI with a strong sense of community to join the network of other Josephians who have done their school proud.
Distinguished Josephians who have benefited from a SJI education include Dr Tony Tan (President), Mr Teo Chee Hean (Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs), My Philip Yeo (Chairman of SPRING Singapore), Mr Davinder Singh (Senior Counsel), Mr KF Seetoh (The Makan Guru), Dr Euan Murugasu (ENT Surgeon) and Mr Gerard Ee (Philanthropist).
When you join SJI, you join a network of Josephians where many are and were distinguished leaders in both public and private sectors.
