A Josephian strives for integrity (wholeness) in his life. He understands the importance of maintaining a balance in his intellectual, physical, emotional and spiritual development and to achieve personal well-being for himself and others. At the end of a SJI education, a Josephian will be a boy who is:
- Driven by passion and strives for meaning
He is passionate about what he does as he knows clearly what he believes and why he believes. He approaches life and work with a sense of purpose and meaning. He is not afraid to venture beyond the conventional paths to pursue his passion and to find meaning.
- People-centred and principled
He places people at the centre in his approach to life. He understands and accepts himself and others. He shows empathy, compassion and respect towards the needs and feelings of others. He work effectively and willingly in collaboration with others. He is honest with himself and with others. His thoughts, words and actions are integrated and consistent with his values, beliefs and principles.
- Reflective and self-directed learner
He gives consideration to his own learning and experience and is able to assess and understand his strengths and limitations in order to support his learning and personal development. He acquires the skills necessary to conduct inquiry and research and shows independence in his learning.
- Thinker and communicator
He thinks critically and creatively in recognizing and approaching complex problems. He is one who constantly innovates. He expresses himself effectively and confidently in a variety of modes of communication and to different audiences.
- Leader and community builder
He is a servant leader who leads through service to community. He possess social awareness, a sense of responsibility for the common good and develops his talents in service to society, to nation and to the world.
