Admission By PSLE Results
Entry into SJI is by merit only. Singapore students would be admitted based on their PSLE T-scores. Returning Singaporeans who would like to be admitted into Secondary 1 are advised to sit for the
SPERS-Sec papers. Foreign students who would like to be admitted into Secondary 1 should have sat for the PSLE examinations and would be admitted based on their PSLE T-scores.
Unless there are exceptional circumstances, foreign students without PSLE T-scores would not be admitted into Secondary 1.
All Primary 6 boys in Singapore will sit for the Primary School Leaving Examinations (PSLE) at the end of the year. The PSLE cut-off scores for SJI for the years, 2009 - 2013, are provided in the Table below.

Admission By DSA
The Direct School Admission (DSA) Exercise aims to promote holistic education by giving participating schools greater flexibility in selecting students while holding to the key principles of transparency and meritocracy. For students, the DSA provides them the opportunity to demonstrate a more diverse range of achievements and talents in seeking admission to secondary schools.
For more information, please visit the DSA@SJI page.
Admission By Appeal
The S1 Posting Exercise is an annual exercise conducted by MOE to post Primary 6 pupils to a secondary school based on their PSLE results and their school choices and the vacancies available in the school. This exercise is conducted from late November to December annually.
Students, who were not successful in their request to be posted to SJI, can apply for entry to SJI via the Appeal process in the school. Appeal forms are available at the school’s general office after the results of the PSLE are out.
Each applicant will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
Academic Results: An applicant is expected to have achieved a sufficient level of academic performance in the PSLE to be able to cope with the rigour of the academic curriculum at SJI.
Specific Achievements: An applicant who is able to demonstrate talents in sports or games or any achievements e.g. Maths/Science Olympiads or community service projects that are noteworthy will be taken into consideration in the evaluation of the appeal.
Affiliation to SJI: The affiliation of an applicant or his parents such as being from the Christian Brothers primary schools, a son of an Old Boy or a Catholic or whose parents are Catholics will be taken into consideration in the evaluation of the appeal.
Contributions: The significant contributions of an applicant or his parents in terms of service to the school, the Catholic community and Singapore society will be taken into consideration in the evaluation of the appeal.
If all else are equal, an applicant who put SJI as the first choice will have an advantage.
The SJI Appeals Board will deliberate on each application. Please note that the decision of the Appeals Board is final.
The appeal application is to be made on the prescribed form attached. Please read the instructions carefully before submitting a hardcopy of the completed and the supporting documents by hand to the SJI Administration Office at 38, Malcolm Road, Singapore 308274.
All successful applicants will be informed by Thursday, 27 December 2012. If you do not hear from the school by this date, you can assume that the application is not successful.
