Josephian Talent Programme

The Josephian Talent Programme (JTP) aims to develop each boy according to his talent and interest. We envision each SJI boy to graduate T-shaped with a broad-based academic foundation coupled with in-depth development in at least one area of talent or interest.

The specific objectives of the JTP include providing each boy with:

  • Opportunities to explore varied areas of interest;
  • In-depth development in specific areas of talent and interest; and
  • Opportunities to apply advanced knowledge and skills in a sustained and/or authentic situation.

The JTP offers the following options:

Josephian Talent Classes
Boys with high overall academic abilities are placed in special classes with an enriched curriculum in the key subject areas of English, Mathematics, Science and Humanities. They engage in projects to develop their areas of talent and interest, and participate in special enrichment modules such as Philosophy and Philosophical Thinking.

Specific Talent Development Classes
Boys with talent and interest in a specific subject are placed in a special class with enriched curriculum in the area. The classes are in the areas of Chinese Language, Computer Science, English Language, Mathematics, Science and Visual Arts.

Talent Mentorship
Boys with exceptional high ability in a specific area are individually mentored to grow through options such as accelerated learning, advanced projects and attachment with lecturers at Institute of Higher Learning or with professionals in the relevant fields.
