International Education

International Education (IE) seeks to develop each student according to his talents and interests by focusing on key life skills such as critical, inquiry and reflective thinking; empathy for others; global mindedness; self-directed learning; communication and cross-cultural skills.

IE aims to provide an enriching learning experience beyond the formal curriculum for the students. It will provide opportunities beyond the borders of Singapore for students to synthesize academic knowledge and apply it through service learning. More importantly, the IE curriculum sets the student to develop himself in a unique overseas experience beyond Singapore borders to eventually become useful 21st century citizens of the world.

International Experience Programme
All the Secondary 3 students have the opportunity to propose, design, plan and execute the overseas programme. In line with SJI’s mission, the programme sets the students to do service work for the overseas communities. The activities range from interacting and educating young children, environmental works as well as refurbishing works for the schools or organisations which we have establish contact with. This allows students to broaden their minds with new knowledge that the communities offer them and learn how to empathise through their experiences with them.

In time, the overseas communities will see that SJI students care about where they come from and are genuinely interested in their well-being. This enables our students to become responsible global citizens who help create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect, with special attention to the last, the lost and the least.
