- My SJI Story
Design Thinking uses the mindset of designers to produce innovations in products, processes and business and organizational models, with the core focus on deep understanding of and empathy with the people who use them.
This programme is developed in collaboration with Rotman DesignWorks of Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, and DesignWorks Singapore at Singapore Polytechnic. It is the first Design Thinking course designed for secondary school students. All IP students and lower secondary students at SJI will be participating in this programme.
Students will be trained in the three “gears” of design thinking that integrates a design mindset with a business-oriented value proposition. Design Thinking at SJI is learnt through “Doing”. Students will understand the concepts and develop the skill sets through a variety of hands-on activities, after which the students will work in teams on a project challenge each year, under the guidance of teacher facilitators and external expert mentors.
Design Thinking at SJI aims to groom an upcoming set of distinct of leaders who possess skills in both analytical and design thinking processes that have the potential to make a meaningful and innovative impact in our society.
