Admission criteria

  • Admission to SJI
Students are admitted into SJI based on the merit of their Singapore-Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level Examination. Those with talents in sports and leadership can be admitted via Direct School Admission (DSA).

Unless there are exceptional circumstances, we do not admit students into SJI who have not sat for the Singapore-Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level or the School Placement Exercise for Returning Singaporeans – Junior College and Millennia Institute (SPERS-JC/MI) conducted by the Ministry of Education (MOE).

  • Admission By Appeal to JC 1
The Joint Admissions Exercise (JAE) is conducted annually by the Ministry of Education (MOE) to allow holders of Singapore-Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level certificate to apply for admission to courses offered by Junior Colleges (JC).

Students who meet the cut-off point (COP) but were not posted to SJI can submit an appeal to the school by using the prescribed form below. Admission is subject to availability of vacancies.

Appeal applications for admission to JC 1 2017 will commence on 1 February 2017 and closes on 3 February 2017, 5.00pm. All applications are to be made on the prescribed form attached and submitted to SJI, Student Services Office by 5.00pm on 3 February 2017. SJI is located at 38 Malcolm Road, Singapore 308274.

We apologise that we are unable to answer to telephone enquiries.

  • Returning Singaporeans
Returning Singaporeans who would like to gain admission into SJI are to approach the Ministry of Education to register for the SPERS-JC/MI. The advantage of registering for the MOE SPERS-JC/MI is that the results could be used to gain admission into the best available Junior College in order of merit that has a vacancy without the need for further testing by the school.

  • Transfer from Another MOE School
As we will be having a relatively small cohort, admission is conducted through the Ministry of Education (MOE) via the Joint Admissions Exercise (JAE) and is solely based on students’ performance in the Singapore-Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level Examinations. Students who are currently in the Integrated Programme (IP) and are interested being admitted to SJI for their Junior College education may apply through the Direct School Admission Exercise (DSA). For more information, please visit the DSA@SJI page.

  • International Students
International students who wish to gain admission MUST approach the Ministry of Education, Singapore for advice.
