Admission To SJI JC1 (2018)

DIRECT SCHOOL ADMISSION (DSA) to JC 1 2018

1. SJI welcomes current Secondary 4 students, both boys and girls, to apply for DSA to JC 1 2018 (IBDP). The SJI JC education leads to the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma.

3. The school is located at 38, Malcolm Road, Singapore 308274.

Selection Criteria

4. In addition to excellent academic performance in secondary school, applicants will also be assessed based on:

  • Outstanding engagements and achievements in one or more areas of talent: academics (e.g. Math Olympiad), sports, arts, leadership and service;
  • Quality of mind, and
  • Personal and relational characteristics


5. Shortlisted applicants will then be invited to sit for two written test on English and Maths (in separate sittings) and attend an interview.

  • Evidence on engagement and achievements in one or more areas of talent: academics (e.g. Math Olympiad), sports, arts, leadership and service.
  • Outstanding engagements and achievements in one or more areas of talent: academics (e.g. Math Olympiad), sports, arts, leadership and service;
  • Personal and relational characteristics.
  • Results from the two written tests – English and Math conducted by SJI.
  • Results from the interview.

Application Process

7. Applications for the SJI DSA are to be made online at http://app.sji.edu.sg/dsa_ib.

8. Upon completion of the online application form:

a. Click ‘Submit’
b. Print a hardcopy of the completed form for submission to SJI.

9. Application closes on 28 June 2017 at 4.00pm.

Hardcopy Submission

10. The hardcopy submission is to include the following:

a) A print-out of the completed application form duly signed.
b) Certified true copy of Secondary 3 (mid-year and end-of-year results) and Secondary 4 (Mid-year results).
c) Supporting documents for outstanding achievement in one or more areas of talent: academics (e.g. Math Olympiad etc), sports, arts, leadership and service (e.g. CCA records).

12. Hardcopy submission can be made either by hand or by post to:

Payment

12. An administrative fee of $30 is payable upon submission of the application. This fee is non-fundable regardless whether the applicant is shortlisted. Payment at SJI can be made by cheque crossed in favour of ‘St Joseph’s Institution’ or by cash only (exact amount). Applicants who are recipients of the MOE Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS) will have their fees waive upon producing the necessary documentation.

Written Tests and Interview

13. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to sit for two written tests and attend an interview. The tentative dates are as follows:

More information will be provided to shortlisted applicants when the invitation is made via email.

SJI reserves the rights not to release the results and reasons for non-selection.

Fees paid and documents submitted in connection with the application are non-returnable regardless of whether the applicant is shortlisted.
